volunteerwiththeirfamiliesonThanksgivingasawaytogiveback.Ialsofieldphonecallsfrom

organizationswhowanttodonatetolocalprogramsthatprovideThanksgivingmeals.

However,asanofficialwhostillworksinthenonprofitsector,Ialsofeeldeeplyanxious

becauseIknowtheother51weeksoftheyear,thesecriticalprogramsthatprovidefoodaccess

toresidentsinneedarestarvingforbothvolunteersanddonations.Hungerisayearround

problem,andeachweekvolunteersarethenecessaryparttoensurethatprogramsareableto

servethecommunity.

AtFoodForFree,werelyonabout100volunteersperweek,andeachofthosevolunteersis

extremelyimportanttoprovidingfresh,healthyfoodtopeopleintheGreaterBostonareawho

needit.SchoolchildrenwhotakebackpacksoffoodhomeonFridays,communitycollege
