AcupuncturetherapyinIndiaisrelatedtothestoryoftheIndianmedicalmission
thatwassenttoChinatoprovidemedicalassistanceduringtheChinesepeople'sWar
ofResistanceAgainstJapaneseAggression(1931-1945).Basu,asacolleagueof
DwarkanathKotnis(widelyknownasKeDihuainChina)andatorchbearerofthe
Indianmedicalmission,stayedinChinafrom1938to1943,andlaterworkedfor43
yearsinIndiauntilhisdeathin1986.From1958to1959,BasustayedinChinato

didnothavetobecomebreathless,sweaty,orexhaustthemselvestoreappsychologi-

intermsofprotectingagainstfuturedepression.
