C Mark Rothko, one of the greatest pain ters of the twenti eth cen tury, was born in Daugavpils, Latvia in 1903. His family immigrated to the United States in

50、othko had, after pain ti ng his first multiform, separated himself from the world in East Hampt on on Long Isla nd, only in vit ing a very few people, in cludi ng Rose nberg, to view the new paintin gs.
