4、在復(fù)合句中修飾名詞或代詞的從句叫定語從句e.g. I like quiet and gentle music=I like music (that/which is quiet and gentle.) 先行詞是物:物+ which/that + 從句先行詞是人:人+ who/that+ 從句例1:I love music which is quiet and gentle.= I love music that is quiet and gentle.例2: I prefer singers who write their own music.= I prefer singers that
5、write their own music.注意:在介詞之后,先行詞指人時(shí),關(guān)系代詞只能用whom;指物時(shí)只能用which,(且不可省略)不能用that,.但介詞放在從句句末時(shí),可用that,且可省略.如: 例1:Do you know the woman with whom the teacher is talking? Do you know the woman (whom/that) the teacher is talking with? 例2: This is the storybook about which i told you. This is the storybook (w
6、hich/that) i told you about. .2. Prefer(1)prefer + n. (名詞),例如: Jennifer prefers musicians who write their own lyrics. (2)prefer to do sth 寧愿做某事,例如: She preferred to write to him rather than telephone him. (3)prefer sth to sth 比更喜歡, I prefer fish to meat.我喜歡魚,而不喜歡肉。(prefer名詞to名詞) I prefer reading to

16、從句中,只能用that 引導(dǎo)的情況:1)先行詞被any, every, the only, the very, the same,all, no修飾時(shí),關(guān)系代詞通常用that而不用which和who,作賓語時(shí)可省略。 【例子】 Thats the only thing (that) we can do at the moment. 2)先行詞被序數(shù)詞或形容詞最高級(jí)修飾時(shí),關(guān)系代詞通常用that而不用which和who,作賓語時(shí)可省略。【例子】This is the best book (that) I have ever known on that subject. 3)先行詞是指物的不定代詞
17、all,little,few, much, none時(shí),關(guān)系代詞通常用that而不用which。【例子】There is still much that can be done about it. All (that) you have to do is to get everything ready. 4)先行詞是不定代詞everything,something,anything, nothing關(guān)系代詞通常用that而不用which;是everyone,everybody, anyone,anybody,someone,somebody,no one時(shí),關(guān)系代詞通常用who而不用that。
