“介詞 + which / whom”引導的定語從句 “介詞+關系代詞”引導的定語從句，是定語從句一種介詞前置的定語從句句型，介詞與關系代詞之間存在一種介賓關系。當關系代詞在定語從句中作介詞賓語時，把介詞置于關系代詞前，即演變出“介詞+關系代詞”句型。例如： The man who/whom /that you spoke to is a teacher. =The man to whom you spoke is a teacher.一、基本構成 1.“介詞+關系代詞”結構引導的定語從句中，關系代詞只能用which（指物）或whom(指人) ，即：介詞+which/whom。 （1）The man to whom you spoke is a teacher.（2）The city in which she lives is far away.（3）The little girl is reading a book,in which there are many cartoons.注意：當介詞放在關系代詞的前面時，用在介詞后的關系代詞不能省略。 2.在限制性定語從句中，當介詞置于定語從句的謂語動詞之后時，可用that/which(指物)；that/who/whom（指人）作介詞的賓語.且此處關系代詞可以省略，特別是在口語中。如： （1) The man (who/whom /that )you spoke to is a teacher.（2）The city（which/that）she lives in is far away.注：通常介詞放在定語從句中動詞后，也可以放在關系代詞前面，但有些特殊動詞短語搭配不能拆分，介詞只能放在動詞后，如： look for, look after, pay attention to ,take care of , look forward to, listen to等。This is the pen that / which you are looking for.The patient whom she is looking after is her father.
