foundintheruinsofabathhouse.ThePortaNolabodieswerepositionedontopofathicklayerofpumice(輕石),
whichsuggeststheyhadattemptedtoescapeafterthepumicehadstoppedfalling.
Henotesthatthestudyclaiminginstantdeathanalyzedremainsfromtheneighbouringtown,whichwasalso
destroyedinthe79C.E.eruption.Manyofthesevictimswereseeninarigid“boxerposition”,whichischaracteristic
