《普通高中英語課程標準（2017年版2020年修訂）》要求：英語學習要使學生能在主題意義引領下，通過學習理解、應用實踐創新等一系列學習活動，基于已有的知識，依托語篇，在分析問題和解決問題的過程中，促進自身的語言知識學習、語言技能發展、文化內涵理解、多元思維發展、價值取向判斷和學習策略運用。讀后續寫的題型設置正好契合了這一理念。命題依據從《普通高中英語課程標準》（2017年版2020年修訂）

命題立意“續”理論
