AronRalston畢業于卡內基梅隆大學機械工程系,2002年從英特爾辭職后立志在冬季登遍科羅拉多州的高山,成功攀登了58座高峰。BackgroundAronRalston在2003年5月峽谷探險時遇到意外,右臂被夾在石縫中無法動彈,他只好借由身體的力量靠在峽谷巖壁上,這樣支撐了5天之后,他突然想出了一個匪夷所思的辦法,用小刀割斷自己的手臂,并且成功的救了自己。斷肢六小時后由直升機救走,搶救醫生說:再晚一個小時獲救的話AronRalston就會因失血過多而不治。
