ancienttextswasstillthebackboneofthecurriculum.Whattippedthescales,

researchaswellasteach.ThisideawasimportedfromGermanyinthelate

outtobeanotherintellectualhangoveroflongforgottenorigins.
It'softenmistakenlybelievedthatmedievaluniversitiesweremostly
seminaries.Infacttheyweremorelawschools.Andatleastinourtradition
lawyersareadvocates,trainedtotakeeithersideofanargumentandmakeas
