Ifreplacingthelogicboard,turnoffFindMyMac.ChooseAppleMenu>SystemPreferences>AppleID.SelectiCloudinthesidebar.ThendeselecttheFindMyMaccheckbox.Ifyou’reunabletoaccesstheApplemenu,continueperformingthefollowingsteps.

Disconnectallothercablesfromthedevice.

Clearandcleanyourworkspace.

PutonanESDwriststrapandattachittoaproperlygroundedESDmat.

Centerthestandsupport

Placethestandwedgebetweenthestandandhousing,asshown.Ensurethatthewedgeiscenteredandthepowerportiscovered.

Inserttheadhesivecutterata90-degreeangle

betweenthedisplayandthehousing.Runtheadhesivecutteracrossthetopof

thecomputer,avoidingthe3-inchareasurroundingthecamera.

Caution

Toavoiddamagingthe

cameraanddisplay,

don’truntheadhesive

cutteracrossthecamera.

Damagetothecamera

requiresadisplay

replacement.

Laythecomputeronaflatsurfacewiththedisplayfaceup.Runtheadhesivecutterbetweenthedisplayandthehousingontheleftandrightsides.

Note:IfthecomputerhasaVESAmountadapter,laythecomputerflatontheVESAsupportwedge.TheVESAsupportwedgehasasquarecutouttoaccommodate

theVESAmountadapter.Positionthebottomedgeofthedisplayclosesttotheslotinthewedge.

Runtheadhesivecutterbetweenthedisplayandhousingonthebottomedgeofthecomputer.

Runtheadhesivecutterbackandforthbetweenthedisplayandhousingaroundallfouredgesofthecomputeruntilthewheelmoveswithminimalresistance.

Caution

Toavoiddamagingthe

camera,don’trunthe

adhesivecutterinthe

3-inchareasurrounding

thecamera.

Inserttheflatendoftheblackstickhalfwaytoitsnotchbetweenthedisplayandhousing.Slidetheblackstickupanddowntocutanyremainingadhesive.

Note:

Ifyoufeelresistance,pulltheblackstickoutslightly.Thencontinuetoslideitupanddownwhileyouvarytheinsertiondepthatpointsofresistance.

Ifyoucontinuetofeelresistance,stopandremovetheblackstick.Installanewwheelintheadhesivecutterandrepeatsteps1through5.

Thisensuresthatthedisplayhasdisengagedfromthedisplayhangersinsidethehousing.

Holdthedisplaybytheedgesandslowlyliftitstraightupabout1to2inches.

Caution

Don’tstraintheflex

cablesthatareconnected

tothelogicboardand

backofthedisplay.

Insertthebottomedgeofthedisplayintotheslotinthestandsupportwedge(1)asyouslowlytiltupthetopedgeofthedisplay(2).

Insertthetwotrianglesupportwedgesintothehousingasshown.

Note:UsetheVESAsupportslotwedgeandtwotrianglesupportwedgesformodelsconfiguredwithaVESAmountadapter.

Peelthepolyesterfilmtapefromthedisplaybacklightflexcable(1)andsaveitforreassembly.Pulltheendofthedisplaybacklightflexcablestraightdownandoutoftheconnector(2).

Flipupthelockinglevers

ofthecameraandembeddedDisplayPort(eDP)flexcableconnectors(1).SlidebothendsoftheeDPflexcableoutoftheirconnectors(2).

Note:ThecameraandeDPflexcableisasinglecablewiththreeends.Thethirdendconnectstothelogicboard.

Liftthedisplayoffthesupportwedgesandsetitonthedisplaysupportstand.

Peelthedisplayadhesivefromtheedgesofthedisplay.

Caution

Topreventdamageto

thepolyesterfilmon

thedisplay,don’tpeel

residualadhesivefrom

thecornersofthedisplay.

UseanethanolwipeorIPAwipetoremoveanyremainingdisplayadhesivefromtheedgesofthedisplay.Allowthesurfacestodryforatleast1minute.

Caution

Don’tuseethanolwipesorIPAwipesonthefrontofthedisplayortoremoveanythingotherthan

residualdisplayadhesive.

Peelthedisplayadhesivefromtheedgesofthehousing.

UseanethanolwipeorIPAwipetoremoveany

remainingdisplayadhesivefromtheedgesofthehousing.Allowthesurfacestodryforatleast1minute.

UseKaptontapetosecurethecameraandeDPflexcableanddisplaybacklightflexcabletothehousing.

thehousinguntiltheentirestripadheres.

Repeatsteps2through4toinstalltheremainingdisplayadhesivestrips.Thencontinuetostep6.

Inspectthealignmentofthedisplayadhesivestrips.Ensurethattherearenowrinklesorairpockets.

Rotatethehousingsothetopedgeisclosesttoyou.Positionthesupportwedgesinthehousingasshown.

PeeltheKaptontapefromthecameraandeDPflexcableanddisplaybacklightflexcable.

Insertthebottomedgeofthedisplayintotheslotinthestandsupportwedge.Restthedisplayonthetrianglesupportwedges.

SlidethetwoendsoftheeDPandcameraflexcableintotheconnectors(1)onthebackofthedisplay.Thenflipdownthelockinglevers(2).

Slidetheendofthedisplaybacklightflexcableintotheconnectoronthebackofthedisplay(1).

Adherethetapeontothedisplaybacklightflexcableconnector(2).

Important

Ifthetapewasdamaged

duringremoval,discardit

andusereplacementtape.

Slightlyliftthetopedgeofthedisplay.Removethetwotrianglesupportwedgesfromthehousing.

Slowlypullthedisplayoutoftheslotinthestandsupportwedge(1).Thenlowerthetopedgeofthedisplaytowardthehousing(2).

Caution

Don’tstraintheflexcables

asyoumovethedisplay.

Positionthedisplayflatonthehousing.Thetopedgeofthedisplayshouldhangjustoverthetopedgeofthehousing.

Applytwostripsofpainterstapetothebottomofthecomputertotemporarilysecurethedisplayto

thehousing.

Holdthedisplayflushagainstthehousingasyoucarefullystandupthecomputer.Thedisplaywillshiftslightlyasithooksontothedisplayhangers

andalignswiththeedgesofthehousing.

Note:IfyourcomputerhasaVESAmountadapter,standthecomputeruprightinthedisplaysupportstand.

Caution

Thedisplayisonly

partiallyheldinplaceby

thedisplayhangersinthe

housing.Holdthedisplay

flushagainstthehousing

toensurethatthedisplay

doesn’tfalloffthedisplay

hangers.

Ensurethatthedisplayandhousingarealignedonallfoursides.Thencarefullyadjustthetwostripsofpainterstapesotheyfitsnuglyoverthebottomofthecomputer.

Removethetwostripsofpainterstapefromthebottomofthecomputer.

Separatethedisplayfromthehousingjustenoughtoremovethe

releaselinersfromthefourdisplayadhesivestrips

onthebottomhalfofthecomputer.Startnearthemiddleandpeelthereleaselinerstowardthebottomcornersofthecomputerintheordershown.

Note:IfthecomputerhasaVESAmountadapter,laythecomputerflatontheVESAsupportwedge.

fouredgesofthedisplaytoadherethedisplayadhesivestrips.

Cleanthedisplaywiththepolishingcloth.

thebatterycableinplaceagainsttheblackstickandlifttheendofthebatterycableofftheconnector.

UseESD-safetweezerstograspthebatteryadhesivetabandgentlypeelitfromthebatteryboard.

UseESD-safetweezerstograspthebatteryadhesivetab.Keepthetweezerscloseandparalleltothehousing.Thenslowlytwistthetweezerstowraptheadhesivearoundthem.
