16、lly easier than to do something 說一些事往往要比做一些事容易。 Whether he will come is still unknown 他是否會來還不知道。 Seeing is believing.第二十二頁,共二十九頁。注: 當(dāng)若干個動詞不定式,動名詞或主語從句被and連接起來當(dāng)主語時,謂語動詞一般用復(fù)數(shù)形式。如: What he says and what he does dont agree 他言行不一致。 Where he comes from and what he is doing here are secrets 他來自哪兒和他在這兒干什么都是
17、謎。 由what引導(dǎo)的主語從句,謂語動詞通常用單數(shù),但所指的具體內(nèi)容若是復(fù)數(shù)意義時,謂語動詞一般用復(fù)數(shù)形式。如: What we need is more time What we need are doctors第二十三頁,共二十九頁。2“就近一致”原則。 當(dāng)一個句子有兩個主語,這兩主語又是由“not onlybut also”, “eitheror”“neithernor”連接起來時,謂語動詞和離它最近的主語保持一致。如: Not only he but also I am good at English 我們倆英語都不錯。 Either they or he is to come 不是他
18、們就是他會來的 第二十四頁,共二十九頁。 3當(dāng)名詞詞組中心詞為表示度量、距離、金額、時間、書名等復(fù)數(shù)名詞時,常作為一個整體來看,謂語動詞用單數(shù)。 Five years is a long time to wait for an answer 為了等待一個答復(fù)4年時間夠長的。4由and連接的兩個并列主語一般謂語動詞用復(fù)數(shù)。如: Plastics and rubber never rot 塑料與橡皮永遠(yuǎn)不會腐爛。 注:當(dāng)and連接的并列單數(shù)主語前分別有every, each, no, many a修飾時,謂語動詞用單數(shù)。 In our country, every boy and every gi
19、rl has the right to receive education第二十五頁,共二十九頁。5.謂語動詞與前面的主語一致當(dāng)主語后面跟有with, together with, like, except, but, no less than, as well as 等詞引起的短語時,謂語動詞與前面的主語一致。The teacher together with some students is visiting the factory.He as well as I wants to go boating.6. 謂語需用單數(shù)1) 代詞each和由every, some, no, any等構(gòu)成
20、的復(fù)合代詞作主語,或主語中含有each, every, 謂語需用單數(shù)。Each of us has a tape-recorder.There is something wrong with my watch.第二十六頁,共二十九頁。7.指代意義決定謂語的單復(fù)數(shù)1) 在代詞what, which, who, none, some, any, more, most, all等詞的單復(fù)數(shù)由其指代的詞的單復(fù)數(shù)決定。All is right. (一切順利。)All are present. (所有人都到齊了。)2) 集體名詞作主語時,謂語的數(shù)要根據(jù)主語的意思來決定。如family, audience,
21、 crew, crowd, class, company, committee等詞后用復(fù)數(shù)形式時,意為這個集體中的各個成員,用單數(shù)時表示該個集體。他家不是一個大家庭。 His family isnt very large. His family are music lovers. 他的家人都是音樂愛好者。但集合名詞people, police, cattle, poultry等在任何情況下都用復(fù)數(shù)形式。Are there any police around?第二十七頁,共二十九頁。8.有些名詞,如variety, number, population, proportion, majority 等有時看作單數(shù),有時看作復(fù)數(shù)。A number of +名詞復(fù)數(shù)+復(fù)數(shù)動詞。The number of +名詞復(fù)數(shù)+單數(shù)動詞。A number of books have lent out.The majority of the students like English.9. 與后接名詞或代詞保持一致1) 用half of, part of, most of, a portion of
