1)延續性動詞和非延續性動詞

延續性動詞指動作可以延續一段時間,

如:work、study、drink、eat等。

非延續性動詞指動作極為短暫,瞬間結束。

如:start、begin、hit、jump、knock等。

2)在本單元中,出現了以when和while引導的時間狀語從句。

<1>when表示“當……的時候”。從句中既可用延續性動詞,又可用非延續性動詞,這些動詞既可以表示動作,又可表示狀態。從句中的動作既可和主句的動作同時發生,又可在主句的動作之前或之后發生。如:

Marywashavingdinnerwhen

Isawher.

Theboywasstillsleeping

whenhismothergothomeyesterdaymorning.

<2>while表示“在……的時候”、“在……期間”。它強調主句的動作與從句的動作同時發生或主句的動作發生在從句的動作過程中。while從句中必須是表示動作或狀態的延續性動詞。如:

TheweatherwasfinewhilewewereinBeijing.

ShecalledwhileIwasout.

如果主句的動作在從句的動作過程中發生,從句常用進行時。如:

Whilewewereswimmingsomeonestoleourclothes.

1.when可指時間點,又可指時間段,從句中可用延續性動詞,也可用非延續性動詞。

2.while總是指一個時間段,從句中必須用延續性動詞。3.統一時態:主句過去式,
