Forpetroleumandnaturalgas:Themostcommonmethodforremovingonecomponentfromagasstream—absorptionandstripping.Procedure:

①feedgasentersabsorber(gaspassesupwards,liquidsolventdownwards)

SO2+1/2O2=SO3SO3+H2O=H2SO4

TheconversionofSO2toSO3isanequilibriumreactionanditisexothermic.Thereactionoscarried

outin3or4separatecatalystbedswithintercoolersbetweenthem.
