24、/43 and Definition of Equipment, Operating Parameters 2 FUNCTION 2.1 FUNCTION 2.1.1 General The Liquid Waste Treatment System (TEU) is common to both units. It stores, monitors and processes non-reusable liquid waste from the reactor coolant system. Liquid waste is collected mainly by the Nuclear Is
25、land Vent and Drain System (RPE) common to both units. The TEU system can also process waste from miscellaneous sources: - waste from Liquid Waste Discharge (TER) for reprocessing, - waste from Conventional Island Liquid Waste Discharge reprocessing, (SEL) for - laundry waste from the hot laundry co
26、llected by the Sewage Recovery System (SRE), - waste contained in the intermediate Recycle System (TEP), and in the concentrate tank of the Boron - The concentrate for reprocessing from Solid Waste Treatment System (TES). All these types of waste are separated into three categories: - - - process dr
27、ains, chemical effluents, floor drains. The sorting of effluents into different categories is carried out at the source by the RPE system to ensure that the radiological and chemical composition of effluents complies with the processing lines located downstream from the storage According to the cate
28、gory the criteria for effluent sorting are as follows: . - Process drains are generally active effluents of low chemical content (the threshold depends on economic factors, the aim being to minimize the global cost of treatment, solid waste management included). - Chemical effluents are generally ac
29、tive effluents of high chemical content. - Floor drains are generally less active effluents (activity level below release threshold) of varying chemical content. 30、e treatment facilities can be resumed by the following chart: 2.1.2 Waste storage and monitoring The treatment unit includes a selective head storage tank for waste of the three following categories: - - - process drains, chemical effluents, floor drains. Two additive extra storage are available for
31、 the different categories of effluents in case of treatment lines unavailability. Storage allows monitoring of the activity level and physico-chemical characteristics of waste, by sampling (REN). Such monitoring results in, either simple filtration followed by direct routing of the liquid waste to t

34、ing before release. 2.1.4 Treatment by evaporation for In this case, after filtration, the waste is treated by a waste evaporator in order to separate it into two distinct liquid phases: - the concentrate containing almost all the active salts in solution and the particles in ACTIVITY LOW 9.25106Bq/

36、istillate. The concentrates are routed towards the TES system storage tank to be drummed. After monitoring by sampling, the distillates are routed to the TER . Otherwise they are recycled upstream from the evaporator for reprocessing. 2.1.5 Treatment by demineralization Process drains are generally
37、treated, after filtration, by two demineralizers in series. After treatment, the waste is stored with distillates. 2.2 SAFETY FUNCTION The TEU system has no direct safety function. However, it has an important role in the protection of the population against ionizing radiation because it decontamina
38、tes all radioactive liquid waste to limit the discharge activity. In addition the system is surrounded by all means of radioprotection required for the safety of operating nel: shielding walls, remote control, remote maintenance (for example: water flushing for spent resin), pneumatic valves, remote
39、 hand actuators, and so on. 44、 to category. Process drains are generally treated by demineralization if their chemical characteristics comply with the rules described above (see chapter 2 2.1). Otherwise, process drains with high chemical content, inconsistent with treatment by demineralization are treated by evaporation. Chemic
45、al effluents are generally treated by evaporation but when their specific activity is below the permissible value, they can be released by simple filtration. Floor drains are generally released after filtration. In case of high activity level, they are treated by evaporation. Head storage includes f
