ThisnternationalStandardhasbeendevelopedbyusers/purchasersandsuppliers/manufacturersofcompletionaccessoriesintendedforuseinthepetroleumandnaturalgasindustryworldwide.ThisInternationalStandardisintendedtogiverequirementsandinformationtobothpartiesintheselection,manufacture,testing,anduseofcompletionaccessories.Further,thisInternationalStandardaddressessupplier/manufacturerrequirementsthatsettheminimumrequirementswithwhichsuppliers/manufacturersshallcomplytoclaimconformitywiththisIntemationalStandard.

ThisnternationalStandardhasbeenstructuredtoallowforgradesofincreasedrequirementsbothinqualitycontrolanddesignvalidation.Thesevariationsallowtheuser/purchasertoselectthegraderequiredforaspecificapplicationforachosenaccessory.

Thethreequalitygradesprovidetheuser/purchaserthechoiceofrequirementstomeetaspecificpreferenceorapplication.QualitygradeQ3istheminimumgradeofqualityofferedbythisproductstandard.QualitygradeQ2providesadditionalinspectionandverificationsteps,andqualitygradeQ1isthehighestgradeprovided.Additionalqualityrequirementsmaybespecifiedbytheuser/purchaserassupplementalrequirements.

Sevenstandarddesignvalidationgrades(VOtoV6)providetheuser/purchaserthechoiceofrequirementstomeetaspecificpreferenceorapplication.DesignvalidationgradeV6istheminimumgradeandrepresentsequipmentwherethevalidationmethodhasbeendefinedbythesupplier/manufacturer.Thecomplexityandseverityofthevalidationtestingincreasesasthegradenumberdecreases.

UsersofthisInternationalStandardshouldbeawarethatrequirementsabovethoseoutlinedinthisInternationalStandardmaybeneededforindividualapplications.ThisInternationalStandardisnotintendedtoinhibitasupplier/manufacturerfromoffering,ortheuser/purchaserfromaccepting,alternativeequipmentorengineeringsolutions.Thismaybeparticularlyapplicablewherethereisinnovativeordevelopingtechnology.Whereanalternativeisoffered,thesupplier/manufacturershouldidentifyanyvariationsfromthisInternationalStandard.

ThisInternationalStandardprovidesrequirementsandguidelinesforcompletionaccessories,asdefinedherein,foruseinthepetroleumandnaturalgasindustry.ThisInternationalStandardprovidesrequirementsforthefunctionalspecificationandtechnicalspecifications,includingdesign,designverificationandvalidation,materials,documentationanddatacontrol,qualityrequirements,redress,repair,shipment,andstorage.ThisInternationalStandardcoversthepressure-containing,nonpressure-containing,load-bearing,disconnect/reconnect,tubing-movement,andopening-a-portfunctionalitiesofcompletionaccessories.

ProductscoveredunderanotherAPIorinternationalspecificationarenotincluded.Alsonotincludedareotherproductssuchasliner/tubinghangers,downholewelltesttools,inflowcontroldevices,surface-controlleddownholechokes,downholeartificiallitequipment,controllinesandfittings,andallfunctionalitiesrelatingtoelectronicsorfiberoptics.ThisInternationalStandarddoesnotcovertheconnectionstothewellconduit.Installation,application,andoperationoftheseproductsareoutsidethescopeofthisInternationalStandard.
