I.TeachingObjectives

1.ListeningSkills:Enablestudentstograspkeyinformationsuchastraveldestinations,transportationmeans,andtravelpreparationsthroughlisteningtovariousconversationsrelatedtotraveling.

2.SpeakingAbilities:Motivatestudentstomunicateabouttravelrelatedtopics,includingsharingtravelplans,discussingpreparationsteps,andmakingtravelreservationsinfluentEnglish.

3.LanguageKnowledge:Helpstudentsunderstandandapplythepresentcontinuoustensetoexpressfuturetravelplansaccurately.

4.CollaborativeandThinkingSkills:Cultivatestudents'cooperativelearningspiritthroughgroupworkandenhancetheirindividualthinkingcapabilitiesduringdiscussionsandpresentations.

II.TeachingKeyandDifficultPoints

1.KeyPoint:Teachstudentseffectivelisteningstrategies,especiallyhowtofocusonkeywordsandphrasestoquicklyunderstandthemainideaoflisteningmaterials.

2.DifficultPoint:Promptstudentstoexpresstheirideasabouttravelingprehensivelyandcreatively,overinglanguagebarriersandexpressingplexthoughtsprecisely.

III.TeachingProcedures

Step1:Leadin(5minutes)

1.TheteachershowssomepicturesoffamoustraveldestinationsaroundtheworldonthePPT,suchastheEiffelTowerinFrance,theGreatWallinChina,andtheSydneyOperaHouseinAustralia.

2.Askstudents:“Ifyoucouldtraveltooneoftheseplacesrightnow,whichonewouldyouchooseandwhy?”Encouragestudentstosharetheirthoughtsbrieflyinclass.

Step2:Prelistening(8minutes)

1.Conductabrainstormingactivity.Writethephrase“TravelPreparations”ontheblackboard.Dividestudentsintosmallgroupsof45.Eachgroupisrequiredtolistasmanythingsaspossiblethatneedtobepreparedbeforeatripwithin3minutes.

2.Afterthat,invitesomegroupstosharetheirlists.Theteachercansummarizeandwritedownmonitemsontheblackboard,like“booktickets”,“packclothes”,“getapassport”,etc.

Step3:Listening(20minutes)

1.ListeningforGeneralIdeas

Playaconversationbetweentwofriendsplanningatrip.Theconversationcoverstheirdestination,thereasonforchoosingit,andtheapproximatetraveltime.

Afterthefirstlistening,studentsanswerthefollowinggeneralquestions:

Step4:Speaking(15minutes)

1.GroupWork

Dividestudentsintopairs.Eachpairchoosesatraveldestinationthatisdifferentfromothersintheclass.

Theyarerequiredtocreateadetailedtravelplan,includingallaspectssuchastransportation,acmodation,thingstodoatthedestination,andnecessarypreparations.

2.Presentation

After810minutesofdiscussion,eachpairpresentstheirtravelplantotheclass.Otherstudentscanlistencarefullyandaskquestionsorgivesuggestionsattheendofeachpresentation.

Step5:LanguageFocus(7minutes)

1.Theteacherselectssomesentencesfromthelisteningmaterialsthatusethepresentcontinuoustensetoexpressfutureplans,like“I'mflyingtoParisnextweek.”

2.Explainthestructureandusageofthisgrammarpointinthecontextoftravel.Havestudentspracticemakingtheirownsentenceswiththesamestructure.Forexample,askstudentstodescribetheirimaginaryfuturetravelplansusingthepresentcontinuoustense.

IV.TeachingReflection

Overall,thislessonwasquitesuccessfulinengagingstudentsinthetopicoftraveling.Theleadinwithpictureseffectivelyattractedstudents'attentionandinspiredtheirenthusiasm.Theprelisteningbrainstormingactivityhelpedstudentsactivatetheirpriorknowledgerelatedtotravelpreparations.Duringthelisteningpart,moststudentswereabletomasterthelisteningstrategiesandobtainkeyinformation.However,therewerestillsomeareasforimprovement.Inthespeakingactivity,somestudentshaddifficultyexpressingplexideasduetolimitedvocabulary.Also,thetimemanagementforgrouppresentationscouldbebetter.Nexttime,Iwillallocatemoretimeforvocabularybuildingbef
