【知識梳理】
1.invent發明;創造
invent指發明創造出自然界本來不存在的東西,如工具、方法、手段、汽車、電器、合成材料等。
Bellinventedthetelephone.貝爾發明了電話。

discover是“發現”的意思,是指發現原來就有而一直沒被發現,如發現電、煤、石油等礦臧及新星、星

beusedas意為“被用作……”,介詞as表示“作為”,其后一般接名詞,強調使用的工具及手段。

1.notonly...but(also)...在句中常用來連接兩個對等的成分,also可以省略。
Eg:HeislearningnotonlyEnglishbut(also)French.他不但在學英語,而且還在學法語。
ShespeaksRussiannotonlyinclassbut(also)athome.她在課堂上和家里都說俄語。
2.notonly...but(also)…用來連接兩個主語時,謂語動詞的單、復數遵循“就近原則”,即和but(also)后
的名詞或代詞的數一致。

不但周霞,而且她的父母都喜歡看足球比賽。

3.notonly...but(also)…連接兩個分句,當notonly位于句首,前一個分句常用倒裝來表示強調,而but
(also)后的分句仍用陳述語序。
