一、重點詞匯

【知識梳理】

1.invent發明;創造

invent指發明創造出自然界本來不存在的東西,如工具、方法、手段、汽車、電器、合成材料等。

Bellinventedthetelephone.貝爾發明了電話。

Smithinventedanewteachingmethod.史密斯發明了?種新的教學方法。

【拓展】discover,find,create

discover是“發現”的意思,是指發現原來就有而一直沒被發現,如發現電、煤、石油等礦臧及新星、星

系或科學真理等。

find的意思是“尋找”,強調找的結果,并不指發現。

此短語中的for是介詞,表示用途,后接名詞或動詞-ing形式。

Anorangeisusedformedicine.桔子可以入藥。

【辨析】beusedas與beusedby

beusedas意為“被用作……”,介詞as表示“作為”,其后一般接名詞,強調使用的工具及手段。

Englishisusedasthesecondlanguageinmanycountries.

英語在許多國家被當作第二語言使用。

beusedby意為“被……使用”,介詞by后面接動作的執行者(賓語)。

①please

表請求或要求的語氣。是動詞(及物動詞)。

②pleased形容詞。表示“高興的,喜歡的,滿意的“。它指的是人主觀上感到的滿足心理

④pleasant形容詞。表示“令人愉快的”“讓人感到滿意'主語一般為物。

4.remain(v.)保持;剩余;殘余

remain用作連系動詞,意為“保持(某種狀態),繼續存在,仍舊是“,后面接形容詞,名詞,分詞,不定

5.bymistake錯誤地

12.notonly...butalso不僅……而且……

球成為一項不僅可以玩的流行運動,也可以觀看的流行運動。

1.notonly...but(also)...在句中常用來連接兩個對等的成分,also可以省略。

Eg:HeislearningnotonlyEnglishbut(also)French.他不但在學英語,而且還在學法語。

ShespeaksRussiannotonlyinclassbut(also)athome.她在課堂上和家里都說俄語。

2.notonly...but(also)…用來連接兩個主語時,謂語動詞的單、復數遵循“就近原則”,即和but(also)后

的名詞或代詞的數一致。

Eg:NotonlyZhouXiabutalsoherparentsarefondofwatchingfootballmatches.

不但周霞,而且她的父母都喜歡看足球比賽。

Notonlyyoubutalsoheistiredofhavingoneexaminationafteranother.

不但你,而且他也討厭一次接一次的考試。

3.notonly...but(also)…連接兩個分句,當notonly位于句首,前一個分句常用倒裝來表示強調,而but

(also)后的分句仍用陳述語序。

interestinthem.不但老師自己對外國電影感興趣,就連他所有的學生也開始對外國電影感興趣了。
