Forfortyyearsscientistshavebeencuriousaboutthatfish.Howdoesitlivewheremostfishwouldfreezetodeath?

Researchwasbegunbycuttingholesintheiceandcatchingthefish.Scientistsstudiedthefish'sbloodandmeasured

itsfreezingpoint.

Thefishweretakenfromseawaterthathadatemperatureof-1,88℃andmanytinypiecesoficefloatinginit.The

bloodofthefishdidnotbegintofreezeuntilitstemperaturewasloweredto-2.05℃.Thatsmalldifferenceisenoughfor
