一、課程說明：本課程采用的文字教材為《美英報刊文章閱讀》，由單元，30課書組成。考慮到該課程教學時數的限制和教材本身所含的信息量大,學生學習負擔可能偏重等因素,特規定以下15課為必學內容。這15內容在18周內完成平均每周1課,余下的三周用作期末復習15課必學內容為Lessons1,3,4,5,6,8,13,17,19，20，21,24,28,30。其余內容供學生自學.二、課程性質：本課程屬于中央電大的統設課,省管選課.三、閱讀美英報刊必須打好下列兩項基本功：1

新聞詞語：新聞語言與我國學生在中學和大學低年級所學課文的規范語言不完全相同。學生們以前所學的內容大多是關于學習和人生哲理的一些小故事，對新聞語言很陌生，詞義面也窄，一見到race,juice,measure,Speaker,gunship,establishment,takeafishing,highprofile,wet,Heblinked和I’mafamilyman就容易本能地分別認為是“跑”、競賽、“汁、“措施”、發言人、“炮艦、建立”、“步”、去釣魚”、高姿態”、干”、“濕、“他眨眼睛了和“我是一個有家室的人”；而在時事英文中，這些詞語很可能分別為“競選”、競選”“通”、議案”、議長”“武裝直升機、“權勢集團”、退黨”、“與黨離心離德、“引人注目或公開的”、英國保守黨中的硬派”、溫和派”、“頂不住而退讓了”和“是一個治家有方、治國（或治州、治市）有道的人”等詞義。由此可見，初學者必須拓寬詞義，逐漸掌握一定數量的新聞詞語，尤其要注意一詞多義，不能一見到culture,challenge,story等就想當然認為只是“文化”、“挑戰”、“資源和“故事”的詞義。2

國際知識：學英語不能僅僅局限于學語言，還要注意積累各方面的知識，有了比較廣泛的知識，才能收到更好的學習效果。美英報刊涉及的面極廣，政治、
