授課教師馬愛梅JamesSinclairRosswasbornonJanuary22,1908onahomesteadnearPrinceAlbert,Saskatchewan.TheperiodfollowingtheSecondWorldWartillthe1980switnessedtheriseofculturalnationalismandtheblossomingoffiction.AftertheSecondWorldWar,CanadajoinedtheUnitedNationsandsentpeace-keepingforcestootherregionsoftheworld.RosswasactiveduringPost-warModernNationalismandtheBreakwithModernism(1940-1980).Rossismostcelebratedasashortstorywriterandnovelist.Inthe1930s,hebeganwritingandpublishedaseriesofseriesofshortstorieswhichareamonghisbestliteraryfeat.MostofhisstoriesappearedinCanadianacademicjournals.TheLampatNoon,ThePaintedDoor,CornetatNight,One’sHeifer,AsforMeandMyHouse,TheWell,WhirofGold,SawbonesMemorialetc.SinclairRossisanaccomplishedshortstorywriterwhohasanumberofbrilliantlycraftedpiecestohiscredit.ThePaintedDoor,CornetatNight,One’sHeifer,areamongthenicesttobewritteninCanada.Allofhisstoriesarecenteredonthedifficultiesofprairielifeduringthe1930sand1940sAsforMeandMyHouseisoneofthemostpowerfulnovelswritteninCanadianliteratureabouttheemotionalbarrennessbetweentheBentleycoupleandtheirsuffocatingprairielife.Thestoryistoldwithhistoricalauthenticity,mirroringthe1930swh
