1.AboutCUHK-Shenzhen

TheChineseUniversityofHongKong,Shenzhen("CUHK-Shenzhen")isestablishedinaccordancewiththeRegulationsofthePeople’sRepublicofChinaonChinese-foreignCooperationinRunningSchoolsuponapprovaloftheMinistryofEducation.CUHK-ShenzheninheritstheeducationalphilosophyandacademicsystemsofTheChineseUniversityofHongKong("CUHK"),andisintendedtoevolveintoaworld-classresearchuniversitywithstrongChineseculturalinfluence.Itiscommittedtonurturinghigh-end

talentswithglobalperspective,Chinesetraditionandsocialresponsibility.

Overthepastdecade,CUHK-Shenzhenhasseenremarkabledevelopmentinitsacademicdisciplines.Presently,theUniversitycomprisessixschools—theSchoolofManagementandEconomics("SME"),theSchoolofScienceandEngineering("SSE"),theSchoolofHumanitiesandSocialSciences("HSS"),theSchoolofDataScience("SDS"),theSchoolofMedicine("MED"),andtheSchoolofMusic("MUS")—alongsideaGraduateSchool.In2024,theUniversityplanstooffer28undergraduateprogrammesand46postgraduateprogrammes(MastersandPhD),includingbothfull-timeandpart-

timeoptions.

CUHK-Shenzhen’sglobalrecruitmentdrivehassuccessfullyattractedmorethan600scholarsandresearchersofinternationalrepute.Thisdistinguishedassemblyincludes5NobelPrizelaureatesandover40academiciansfromvariouscountries,alongsidemorethan40membersofinternationallyrecognisedprofessionalorganizationssuchastheInstituteofElectricalandElectronicsEngineers("IEEE").ThefacultyatCUHK-Shenzhen,allofwhomhaveexperienceintop-tierglobaluniversities,bringauniqueblendofinternationalperspective,innovativethinking,andaferventdedicationtoteachingand

research.

In2023,thequalityofincomingstudentsatCUHK-Shenzhenremainedexceptionallyhigh,maintainingitspositionamongthetopechelonsnationwide.Studentsacceptedfromthemajorityofareasscoredinthetop0.7%and1.5%regionallyontheGaokao(NationalCollegeEntranceExamination)inliberalarts-orientedconcentrationandnatural-science-orientedconcentration,respectively.Asaninternationaluniversity,ourstudents'average

EnglishscoreinGaokaowasanimpressive137outof150.

CUHK-ShenzhenfeaturesaninternationallearningenvironmentwhereEnglishservesasthemainteachinglanguage.Combinedwithitsuniquecollegiatesystem,generaleducationcourses,multidisciplinaryprogrammes,andstudent-centrededucationalprinciples,theUniversityaimstoevolveintoafirst-classresearchuniversitywhosebilingualandglobalpedagogy,researchoutputandcontributiontothecommunityare

acknowledgedregionally,nationallyandinternationally.

ThesurveyedClassof2023,representingthesixthcohortofbachelor'sdegreegraduatesfromTheChineseUniversityofHongKong,Shenzhen,consistedof1,190students1.Withinthiscohort,therewere524malestudents(44.03%)and666female

students(55.97%),maintainingamale-to-femaleratioofapproximately0.79:1.

TheClassof2023graduatesincluded507studentsfromtheSchoolofManagementandEconomics(SME),244fromtheSchoolofDataScience(SDS),194fromtheSchoolofScienceandEngineering(SSE),122fromtheSchoolofHumanitiesandSocialSciences(HSS),50fromtheSchoolofMedicine(MED),and73majoringinFinancialEngineering.TheFinancialEngineeringprogramme,jointlyofferedbySME,SSE,andSDS,iscounted

separatelyandnotincludedintheindividualschoolcategories.

Intermsofprogrammedistribution,SMEsaw176(34.71%)graduatesinFinance,113(22.29%)inEconomics,98(19.33%)inProfessionalAccountancy,63(12.43%)inGlobalBusinessStudies,and57(11.24%)inMarketingandCommunication;SDShad158(64.75%)graduatesinStatistics,84(34.43%)inComputerScienceandEngineering,and2(0.82%)inDataScienceandBigDataTechnology2;SSEcomprised95(48.97%)graduatesinMathematicsandAppliedMathematics,92(47.42%)inElectronic

InformationEngineering,and7(3.61%)inNewEnergyScienceandEngineering;HSS

1InaccordancewiththedirectivefromtheGuangdongProvincialDepartmentofEducationregardingtheregistrationofpost-graduationcareerandgraduateschoolplacementfor2023graduatesfromgeneraluniversitiesinGuangdongProvince.

2CUHK-Shenzhen'sundergraduateprograminDataScienceandBigDataTechnologybeganenrollmentin2020.Theacademicdurationis4years,andthefirstbatchofgraduatesshouldgraduatein2024.Twograduatesofthe2023DataScienceandBigDataTechnologymajorenrolledinothermajorsin2019.Duringtheirstudies,theymettheconditions

forchangingmajorsandtransferredtothismajorandsuccessfullygraduated.```

"CareerandGraduateSchoolPlacementRate"("placementrate")inthisreportreferstotheproportionof2023graduatesengagedin"furtherstudy","employment",and"entrepreneurship".Specifically,"furtherstudy"includesdomesticandoverseasfurtherstudies,"employment"encompassesflexibleemploymentandworkengagementwithatripartiteagreementorlabourcontractsigned,while"entrepreneurship"referstoself-employment.AccordingtothestatisticsasofDecember2023,theoverallplacementrateforthesixthcohortofundergraduatesofTheChineseUniversityofHongKong,Shenzhenreached95.13%.Ofthese,963graduates(80.92%)pursuedfurtherstudies,while163

(13.70%)and6(0.50%)wereemployedandself-employedrespectively.

Forthe507graduatesfromtheSchoolofManagementandEconomics("SME"),theplacementratereached93.29%.Amongthese,80.47%wereadmittedtopostgraduate

programmes,12.43%securedemployment,and0.39%embarkedonentrepreneurship.

TheSchoolofDataScience("SDS")witnessedaplacementrateof96.31%forits244graduates.Thisincluded78.28%continuingtheireducation,16.80%gainingemployment,

and1.23%pursuingentrepreneurship.

TheSchoolofScienceandEngineering("SSE")hadaplacementrateof95.36%forits194graduates.Ofthese,78.87%wereadmittedtofurtherstudies,15.98%found

employment,and0.52%startedtheirownbusinesses.

TheSchoolofHumanitiesandSocialSciences("HSS")achievedaplacementrateof98.36%withits122graduates.Asignificant85.25%pursuedfurtherstudiesand13.11%

enteredthejobmarket.

In2023,thenumberofundergraduatesfromCUHK-Shenzhenpursuingfurtherstudiesreached963,accountingfor80.92%ofallgraduates.Thismarksanincreaseof2.9

percentagepointscomparedtothepreviouscohort.

Finance,Accounting,Marketing,andManagement:28.87%ofgraduatespursuingfurthereducationenrolledinthesesubjects.NotableprogrammesincludetheMasterin

FinancialEngineering,DataScience,andBusinessAnalytics:Thisfieldattracted23.68%ofthegraduates.ExamplesofpursuedprogrammesaretheMasterofFinancialEngineeringatBaruchCollege,CityUniversityofNewYork,andtheMasterofData

ScienceatETHZurich.

ComputerScienceandComputerEngineering:12.15%ofthegraduates,anincreaseof1.59percentagepointsfromthepreviousyear,enrolledinprogrammessuchastheMScinInformationNetworkingatCarnegieMellonUniversityandtheMScinComputer
