Even so, only some 80% of air supplied can be utilized, but the spark ignition engine can consume all the air induced.Compared with the spark ignition engine the high combustion pr

43、essures need a strong, heavy and costly construction, while the fine limits to which the fuel pump and injectors must be manufactured add to the expense. Even with extensive light alloy construction, the power to weight ratio is lower than for a petrol engine. Starting may present more difficulty du

44、e to the high compression pressure and the heat required for fuel ignition. Idling is less smooth, acceleration slower, maximum rev/min are lower and imperfect combustion will result in a lower bmep and obnoxious exhaust smoke.On the other hand, the higher compression ratio gives a greater thermal e
